I also enjoy eating breakfast tacos and quietly weeping when nobody is looking.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Skateboarding, the activity in itself, doesn\u2019t really tie into my creative process, but it does clear my head and allow my brain to work better.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But the act of making skateboarding graphics, and other commercial art practices, definitely influences my fine art practice. Most of what I end up creating begins as a crude drawing in a sketchbook, whether that be something for a graphic or a painting or a sculpture. They all live together in their infancy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Early on I was super into Jimbo Phillips, VCJ aka Vernon Courtlandt Johnson and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/hyperstoic\">Pushead<\/a> so Santa Cruz Skateboards, Powell-Peralta and Zorlac respectively.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Skater-wise, I really dug <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nblender\">Neil Blender<\/a>\u2019s and Tod Swank\u2019s drawings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Later on, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nocomplynetwork.com\/marc-mckee\">Marc McKee<\/a> and Sean Cliver were my board-graphic heroes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But as far as contemporary stuff goes, I also get pretty jazzed up by Polar Skate\u2018s graphics, especially <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/jacobovgren\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacob Ovgren<\/a> and Stefan Narancic&#8217;s contributions to the Polar brand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But, honestly, I\u2019m inspired by the entire deck wall at my local shop. Even the graphics I hate inspire me to make stuff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I think The No Comply Network is a great idea but I\u2019m also a fan of being a weird loner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Plans for the future? Absolutely.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We\u2019re currently dragging the corpse of Roger Skateboards from his shallow grave and resurrecting him to his former status as a barely-heard-of board brand.
