I just spent an hour cleaning paint brushes from my last mural job. Unfortunately half of them were too far gone to be saved, but these ones will be used on the next two jobs (at least) I’m still using some brushes that I’ve had for 20 years. I was also careful to not buy too much paint because I don’t like waste, and I got the other artists like @theminamania to use leftover paint from previous murals. Too often artists just trash all their materials after a job because they can’t be bothered to go to the effort of cleaning. It saddens me how much waste is created by our lazy, convenient culture. Community artworks that create huge amounts of waste can’t really be seen as adding much quality to life. Why try and create beauty in the world with one hand if the other is filling the oceans with plastic and the landfills with perfectly good tools that can be used again and again?
Take care of your tools and they will take care of you!
Brush Lives Matter!!!
P.S. I’ll be painting in Magdeburg on Friday. Come say hello!
